Earth Day Invasive Pull at the Thorn Preserve

  • Thorn Preserve 55 John Joy Road Woodstock, NY, 12498 United States (map)

This Saturday April 23rd come celebrate Earth Day by learning about how to manage invasive plants. We will cover identification of many common invasive plants of the Woodstock area, and specifically focus on the identification, reporting, and management of lesser celandine (scientific name Ficaria verna), an aggressive mat-forming spring ephemeral in the buttercup family.

The day will feature a short tour of walking trails on the Thorn Preserve with discussion about and examples of common invasive plants, followed by a demonstration and volunteer pull focusing on the invasive lesser celandine.

Please come prepared to get dirty: gloves, hand trowels, and a water bottle are all recommended!

Please email Dan Snider-Nerp to RSVP or with any questions about the event at dsnider-nerp@catskillcenter.org
