Be Informed Lecture Series: Invasives Species, Past, Present and Future

Learn about past, present and future impacts of two invasive species that are making their marks in Otsego County. Holly Waterfield, Research Support Specialist at the SUNY Oneonta Biological Field Station presents A Decade of Zebra Mussels: Impacts & Challenges in Otsego Lake. Holly will discuss ecological changes that have taken place in Otsego Lake since the establishment of the zebra mussel around 2007 and will touch on the challenges this invader has created for those who play and work on the water.

In Emerald Ash Borer: Current Status and the Way Forward, Dr. Jonathan Rosenthal, Director of the Ecological Research Institute, will discuss the current status of emerald ash borer in Otsego and adjacent counties, what can be expected in terms of its spread and impacts, and what can be done to best prepare for and respond to this pest.
